Alexis Oldt uses digital illustrations to explore the idea of cursed deals and revenge. Oldt’s 32-page comic book follows a young woman of questionable sanity who ends up making a deal with a supposed friend who turns out to be a demon. The story was inspired by works including the moral tales in both “Faust” and “Moby Dick,” a cult town feel like those in “Midsommar” and “Outlast 2,” an unreliable narrator like in “Martha is Dead,” and a tormented family like “The VVitch.”>br>
Artists like Abigail Larson, Junji Ito, and historical attire of Victorian and Gothic horror are also influences. Alexis is an Illustration major who plans to continue creating and self-publishing comics that range from fantasy to horror.
