Animation & Game Art, BFA

Thesis Project

Isabelle Karol, through the use of the surreal and off putting, intends to create work that both disturbs and intrigues viewers. Her thesis project known as “Lantern” takes place in a dark forest infested with demons, with the protagonist having to make their way to the safety of the castle while keeping their sanity intact.

Bio
Isabelle Karol is an artist who strives for originality. A large amount of the art she creates is inspired by her experiences both in the real world and the art she experienced growing up, namely the cartoons of the 2000s as well as the many video games, comics and animations she saw online. She tries to incorporate a certain amount of stylized grittiness into her art, giving her art an unsettling feeling. Isabelle is a firm believer that there should be a certain amount of emotion behind all art. She mainly works in 2D but in her time at PCAD, she has learned 3D programs, namely Maya and Unreal Engine, both of which she is constantly improving in. She tries to employ my style into every work she creates no matter the medium.
