McKenna DiComo

Animation & Game Art, BFA

Minor in Business in Creative Industry
Thesis Project

McKenna loves telling stories through visually appealing character designs and through film. Her thesis film “Fishy Business” is a culmination of these skills. Inspired by detective and noir films she put her own spin on it…or should we say fin. A detective 30,000 leagues under the sea happens upon something strange and decides to investigate. She took a hybrid approach to the film, mixing both 3D and 2D elements to create something new. The cityscape was modeled within MAYA, with the characters animated within Harmony. All of the extra effects like kelp and character lighting were achieved within After Effects. The final composite was then edited together in Premiere. Her thesis film was also selected to be featured in the 2024 Toon Boom ShowReel.
