Graphic Design seniors Zorina Eckman and Madeleine Lyash have been named 2021 Students to Watch by Graphic Design USA. The online news source and magazine covers people, projects, trends, technology and products for graphic design professionals nationwide.
“Maddie and Zorina fully understand the power of design,” says Graphic Design Department Chair Pamela Barby. “They are creating senior thesis concepts that visually inform, educate, and engage their audiences on the topics of mental health and environmental awareness. These are passion projects that make all of us proud to know them and privileged to teach them. Another proud moment at PCA&D.”
Eckman, a consistent Dean’s List student, was a second-place finalist for the Class of 2021 Senior Show branding. A member of the local American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Chapter, she has participated in the College’s annual Designathon event, which creates free professional-level marketing materials for local non-profit organizations, and supports Dean of Students Jessica Edonick as a student worker.
Her senior thesis involves creation of a fictional non-profit organization focused on rock and trail conservation through the lens of rock climbers’ eyes.
Lyash is a four-year member of the local American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA) Chapter, and this year serves as Chapter President. A frequent Dean’s List student, she is the current Senior Class Representative, has participated in the College’s 5th-Grade Career Exploration Days, and this month participates in her second Designathon.
