PCA&D celebrates our community’s June accomplishments

- Rebecca Adey (Admissions) recently opened a new exhibition at Millworks, Harrisburg — her first completely 3D sculptural plush mount show. The work includes eight imaginative, hybrid animal and bird mounts Adey designed and created. For this collection, she has repurposed vintage frames and/or mirrors to make each work special and one of a kind. The frames have been collected from antiques shows, eBay and Etsy to make this grouping unique from all Adey’s other work.

Matt Allyn Chapman ’08 (Fine Art/Foundation) recently competed in the World Championships of Axe Throwing in Toronto, Canada. This is the second consecutive year in which Chapman has qualified. Last year, he placed 230th out of 250 competitors. This year, he advanced his world ranking to 65! Congratulations!
- Ceanna Davis ’24, Fine Art, is the featured artist for the Historic Preservation Trust of Lancaster County’s July First Friday. Her exhibition is open for that July 5 event from 5-8 pm at the historic Sehner-Ellicott-Von Hess House, 123 N. Prince St. To see more of Davis’s work, visit Instagram at @ceannariita.
- Congratulations to the five students who have been named Young Classroom Assistants in the College’s Center for Creative Exploration: Aidan DiRosato ’27; Abby Howe ’26, Animation & Game Art; Mitch Palad’26, Illustration; Asa Smith’26, LiveX; and Shay Thomas’26, Graphic Design.
- Work by Kathleen Eastwood-Riaño (Assistant Professor, Foundation) has been selected for the 82nd Woodmere Museum Annual Exhibition. The juried exhibition features pieces by contemporary artists in the Philadelphia region that reflect What is belonging? The show opened June 8 and runs through Sept. 1.
- Work by Jasmyn Stokes’23, Illustration, was recently featured in ImagineFX Magazine. Stokes recently completed a yearlong PCA&D Career Development Fellowship.
- Nicole Ferree Troup ’08, Illustration, is receiving recognition for her Portraits for a Cause series, which raises money for Angels of East Africa, which rescues children in South Sudan from war and poverty, and other causes. Troup, who also is Pennsylvania state representative for the Portrait Society of America, works primarily in oil and charcoal and has completed portraits of former Pennsylvania Governor Thomas Corbett, WWE wrestler Titus O’Neil, model Mari Malek, and many others in the course of her career. Her work has been featured nationally and internationally in publications and journals such as American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, The Guide Artists Magazine, the Journal of the Portrait Society of America, and many others. Five Pennsylvania College of Art & Design faculty, staff, and founders are part of the Demuth Invitational at Lancaster’s Demuth Museum, 120 E. King St., through July 21. PCA&D founder Robert Patierno is joined by Becky Blosser (Chair, Fine Art), Evan Kitson ’10 (Adjunct, Fine Art), William Mammarella (Chair, Foundation), and Justin Phillips (Assistant Dean of Academic Affairs).
