Description

This class is an explorative and informative oil painting class for intermediate to advanced painters designed to help them  learn the safest oil painting practices, gain confidence in color mixing and paint application/manipulation, and process techniques. Together we will learn color theory, observational skills, and substrate preparation. You will create two finished paintings and one study in the duration of the class, exploring techniques and paint mixing. Methods for drawing in paint, blocking in value and composition, and seeing value vs color are also covered in the class.

      • raw umber

      • lemon yellow

  • two small to medium glass or metal jars with lids for medium
  • linseed or walnut oil medium
  • watercolor paper
  • gesso
  • two gessoed canvases or panels either 11×14 or 16×20
  • assorted brushes
  • palette
