Pennsylvania College of Art & Design is proud to welcome Darryl Glenn as our new Dean of Students, a position that requires the perspective of supporting, challenging, and celebrating our student body.
With more than a decade of experience in higher education, Dean Glenn has had the opportunity to work within roles that oversee many aspects of Student Affairs, including residence life and student life programs, orientation, student organizations, Greek life, student conduct, and military and multicultural and diversity programs.
“To be an effective leader,” Glenn says, “I believe one must lead with enthusiasm and should always add value to someone’s day.” His quest to do that, he says, leads him to an initial goal at the College: “to help connect current and future students to create opportunities for community awareness and action, identity and belonging, and civic engagement.”
Glenn has an art and design background as well, earning his bachelor’s degree in Graphic Arts Technology Management and his Master’s in Organizational Leadership. He comes to PCA&D from his most recent position as Assistant Dean of Student Affairs and Director of Residence Life at McPherson College in Kansas.
“I’ve had the opportunity to provide the infrastructure and associated resources to support students’ health and wellness,” Glenn says, “empower students to problem-solve challenges within their own community, and identify ways to create vibrant communities.” He’s also supported students through cultural living experiences, outlined a residential curriculum and training in-services, and served on state and nationwide professional student affairs committees as the small school representative. It’s his goal, he says, “to support, challenge, and celebrate with those I serve in all higher education sectors.”
“For me,” Glenn says, “this is more than just a career; it’s a passion.”As Dean of Students, Glenn’s responsibilities include overseeing residence life, student engagement, as well as student success programs. Student Life staff also includes Kaity Nordhoff, Student Success Advisor; Student Engagement Coordinator CJ Crossett; and Serena Lowry, Administrative Coordinator for Student Affairs.
