Description
This figure painting class utilizes a live model and is designed to help the artist gain anatomical and gestural knowledge to apply to painting the figure from life. Topics include perspective, rhythm, gesture, structure, composition, material handling, and plenty of demonstrations. Techniques for seeing, surface preparation, material knowledge, and live model etiquette will also be covered. You will use your chosen medium and will get individualized instruction based on what you chose to bring and should expect to finish the class with 4 figure paintings. Please see the supply list for acceptable paint media options.
This course must meet minimum enrollment by October 23 in order to run. Register today!
Supply List
- 4 surfaces to paint on no smaller than 11×14″ no larger than 16×20″
- Acceptable surfaces include: gessoed canvas, panel, or watercolor paper; canvas or oil paper (3 coats of gesso if gessoing)
- Oil or Acrylic paints:
- ivory black
- raw umber
- titanium white
- burnt sienna
- napthol red
- alizarin crimson
- yellow ochre
- lemon yellow
- ultramarine blue
- cyan blue
- Palette Knife
- Palette (paper, glass, or wood)
- Variety of brushes of medium firmness and one or two firm bristle brushes of medium size.
- Linseed or walnut oil (if using oils)
- Glass or metal jar with sealable lid for medium (if using oils)
- notebook and pencil for notes optional
