Description
This figure painting class for students in grades 9-12 provides the aspiring figurative artist a solid foundation in anatomical references, composition, working with a live model, and navigating color theory in a realistic setting. Students are welcome to paint in oil or acrylic paint and should expect a better understanding of process to accomplish their visual goals.
This course must meet minimum enrollment by March 1 in order to run. Register today!

Supply List
- 3 surfaces (gessoed watercolor paper, canvas or panel, canvas paper, oil paper) no smaller than 11″x14”, no larger than 16″x20”
- Assortment of paints with some version of red, blue, and yellow represented, plus white, black, and an umber.
- Assortment of brushes
- Cup for water or glass or metal jar with lid for oil
- Walnut or linseed oil if working with oil paint
- Palette knife
- Palette (paper, glass, wood or acrylic – just make sure it’s completely flat)
- Drawing board if working on paper
- Painters tape
