Description

In this class students will explore the basics of colors theory, color schemes, and explore the emotional elements of color. They will be encouraged to experiment with brushes and palette knives. Students will engage with different color relationships, painting techniques, and compositions and will translate what they have learned into a series of dynamic still life paintings. Students will complete a series of studies as well as one to two finished paintings.

This is a credit-bearing class and grades will be given. Please check the supply list tab for materials needed to complete this class.

This course must meet minimum enrollment by July 15 in order to run. Register today! 

Supply List

  • Variety of Acrylic paints ( Suggested colors: titanium white, Paynes Gray, Cadmium Yellow (light and medium), Allizarin Crimson, Cadmium Red Medium, Cerulean and/or ultramarine blue)
  • Glass Palette or Palette Paper
  • Brushes – various sizes suitable for acrylic paints
  • 9″ x 12″ Acrylic/Watercolor Paper Pad or larger
  • (2) 16″ x 20″ Canvases or larger
  • OPTIONAL: Artist tape, drawing board
