Description

In this workshop students in grades 5-7 will create their own assemblage by finding different objects with a scavenger hunt throughout the PCA&D building to create an artistic scene to display parts that are important to your child’s identity. We will be looking at the work of Betye Saar who is an assemblage artist who creates pieces made from found objects. Assemblage is an art form that uses found objects to create sculptures or installations. It’s similar to collage, but in three dimensions. The pieces that Saar created are special because they each showcase a different part of her culture and also include important stories from members of her family and different parts of her life that she is proud of. In this workshop students in grades 5-7 will create their own assemblage by finding different objects with a scavenger hunt throughout the PCA&D building to create an artistic scene to display parts that are important to your child’s identity.

This course must meet minimum enrollment by July 3 in order to run. Register today!
