My thesis project is an adaptation of the book “Eragon” by Christopher Paolini. With this project I focused on layout design and background painting, with the intent for these to be used in a hypothetical animated show based off of the book. What you’ll see with my thesis is an emphasis on process, there are roughly 75 sketches, most of which didn’t make it past that step. The majority of art is behind the curtain, and this is for the millions of pencil lines unseen.
My artistic process is founded on my upbringing. We used to go in the woods and play, me and my brothers, the kind of escapist fantasy that you only get being four kids in the backwoods behind your house. If I can sum up my art in a word. “Adventure.” I want to create that childlike fantasy for everyone. I’ll show you a new world.
