Description

This workshop will encourage you to  explore abstract drawing techniques and a wide variety of materials in a supportive and encouraging studio environment. We will discuss what abstraction is, and how to use drawing to create abstract works of art. In addition, you will learn the basics of abstract mark making, gesture/action drawing, creating movement and balance, implied narrative and emotional aspects of composition. After a brief lecture on compositions, proportion, and various abstract techniques including visual examples, we will work at first from direct observation of a still life. We will complete a series of warm up exercises that will progress toward 4-6 sketches of increased abstraction. We will round out the workshop by working on a final, fully rendered abstract drawing.

This course must meet minimum enrollment by October 5th in order to run. Register today!
