Description
Design Thinking is a way of creatively thinking through problems or opportunities that taps into the human at the center. In this online class, we will walk through 5 principles or phases, spending one to two days on each phase. The phases include the following major Design Thinking ideas: Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, Test. Though this method of work is often associated with engineers, we will discuss Design Thinking as a praxis that can amplify collaborative art projects and provide a necessary foundation for artists interested in community based or socially engaged art. Students should come with open minds and a willingness to be comfortable with the unfamiliar and an openness to working with others. Students will leave with a workshopped project or idea and a plan to execute that project or idea with a design thinking and human centered framework.
This online class will meet as follows:

7 pm – 8:30 pm -Synchronous Content
8:30 pm – 9 pm -Individual check-ins and/or Office Hours
