Week 2 | July | How to Start a Sketchbook! Grades 4-6

In this playful, hands-on class, we’ll explore inventive tips, tricks, and techniques for breaking in a brand-new sketchbook with confidence. Using a variety of unexpected and creative materials, you’ll prep, experiment on, and start multiple pages—embracing process over perfection. Inspired by the spirit of Wreck This Journal, we’ll explore bold marks, layered textures, and imaginative prompts that free you from the pressure of the blank page. By the end of class, you’ll leave with a sketchbook full of dynamic beginnings—rich with ideas, energy, and inspiration to keep creating long after the workshop ends. This is a studio based class with lots of guidance to start followed by one-on-one instruction. Expect to have lots of creative freedom within the bounds of the assignment!
